Biography

Dr. Brad H. Rovin, the Lee A. Hebert Professor of Nephrology, is a distinguished leader in kidney disease research and treatment. With a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois Medical School, Dr. Rovin's academic foundation is both diverse and robust. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, followed by a Fellowship in Nephrology at Washington University School of Medicine.

Since joining the faculty of the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1990, Dr. Rovin has made significant contributions to the field. In 2004, he became Director of the Division of Nephrology and served as Vice Chairman of Medicine for Research from 2009 to 2019. Currently, he is the Medical Director of the Ohio State University Clinical Research Management Institute, a role he assumed in 2019.

Dr. Rovin is deeply involved in professional organizations and publications. As a leader in the American Society of Nephrology, he has overseen the Glomerular Diseases Pre-Course and co-edited NephSAP-Glomerular Diseases, a key continuing education resource. His international impact is highlighted by his role as Deputy Editor of Kidney International, the premier journal of the International Society of Nephrology, and as Co-Chair for glomerular disease guideline development for Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO).

A pioneer in the study of immunopathogenesis of glomerular and autoimmune diseases, Dr. Rovin is at the forefront of clinical trial design and implementation. He is a founding member of NephroNet, a grassroots nephrology clinical trial organization, and the Lupus Nephritis Clinical Trials Network. Dr. Rovin has served as Principal Investigator for numerous trials exploring innovative therapeutics for glomerular diseases, advancing treatment options for patients worldwide.

With decades of experience and a passion for improving outcomes in nephrology, Dr. Rovin continues to shape the future of kidney disease research and care.
